Our handscraped stair treads are milled with new state of the art equipment. We can make the handscraped stair treads with a left or right hand return. Or we can make them with a double end return to any length. White oak handscraped stair treads are available in standard sizes or can be custom made to your specifications. Handscraped stair treads are also available in almost any other hardwood species. Custom handscraped stair tread options include thick stair treads for floating stairs, winder treads and retrofit stair treads in any custom sizes you might need. We also offer other texture options on all our wood stair treads including, wire brushed, sawcut, and distressed. All our wood stair parts including handscraped stair treads and handscraped risers can be ordered unfinished or prefinished with tread coat, a very durable two-component, commercial grade conversion varnish specifically made for high traffic areas. We can also stain your handscraped stair treads and risers with a standard stain color or apply a custom stain of your choice. We also provide stain match service. Choose from our standard sizes or contact us for a custom wood stair tread quote. Our standard stair treads are a full 1" thick. Each return is 1-1/4" wide and extends 1-1/2" past back side of the tread. left or right return is determined by standing at bottom of the stairs looking up. Stair treads and risers over 48" long may be slightly oversize with uneven ends.
All sizes are overall, including the return(s). For example, a single return 36" tread will have a 34-3/4" throat size, a double return 48" tread will have a 45-1/2" throat size.

White oak sapwood is light-colored and the heartwood is light to dark brown. White oak is mostly straight-grained with a medium to coarse texture, with longer rays than red oak. White oak therefore has more figure. We use only the higher quality grades of white oak lumber for our products.
