Hard Maple Stair Tread Product Details

These gorgeous maple stair treads will create a statement in your home. All wood stair parts are custom made to order. Our stair treads are sanded and maintained perfectly on top, while the bottom is left in a potentially rough state, untouched, because when installed, it will never be visible.

Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown.

Please Note: Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown. All stair treads are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.

Customize Your Maple Stair Treads

Choose your needed depth and length, and specify other details for your order.

Standard or Retrofit

These treads can be used for a new staircase (standard), or retrofitted over existing stairs. They are made to order in whatever sizing you need.

Standard treads come in 1”, 3/4", 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" thickness. Retrofit stair treads are 3/4" thick, with an overhang on the front edge measuring 1" thick x 1-1/4" deep. Our stair treads and risers are made with a three to five piece glue up.

Sizing

Stair treads are available in any length up to 120” and any depth up to 18”. Stair treads and risers over 48" long may be slightly oversize with uneven ends.

Nosing

Nosing refers to the front part of the tread that hangs over the step. You can customize the shape of the nosing with a bullnose, squared edge, or eased edge.

Return

Returns are needed for staircases with banisters. A left-side banister requires a left return, and a right-side banister takes a right return. In this case, left and right are determined while standing at the bottom of the staircase and looking up. If you have a banister on both sides, you will need a double return.

Choose a Finish

Choose from a variety of finish options. We can also stain or paint your stair treads. Our stain match services will match up the color of the stain to existing wood in your house.

Select a Texture

To add more character to your stair treads, choose a unique texture. We offer various texture options on all our wood stair treads including, hand-scraped, wire brushed, sawcut, and distressed. If you prefer to have your stair tread sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.

The Wire Brushed Texture works best on wood with an open grain such as White Oak, Red oak, or Ash. On other tighter grain wood species, such as Hard Maple, the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.

Shipping Information

Shipping may vary depending on your customization options. Please provide for a standard lead of 1 to 2 weeks for processing, milling, and shipping of stair tread orders.

Note: Lead times may vary based on seasonal demand. Please contact our sales team online or by phone at 1-800-798-1269 for questions regarding current order lead times.

Hard Maple

Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.

Soft Maple

In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
