Environment
Forest Preservation
The Hardwood Lumber Company is committed to preserving the environment through sustainable logging. All of the domestic wood species we harvest originate locally and throughout the Northern Appalachian region, where more trees are planted and grown than are harvested. The exotic wood species are imported from properly managed forests worldwide.
Wood Heat: A Renewable Energy
All remaining wood byproducts from manufacturing are used to heat our buildings and operate drying kilns. This type of energy is renewable and reduces the need for oil and gas drilling, storage, and transportation to our facility.
Wind Power
The Hardwood Lumber Company is currently exploring the construction of an on-site wind turbine which will reduce the reliance on fossil fuels for electricity. Feasibility testing is currently underway.
